This beautiful gold pavilion dates back to the fifteenth century. Build by an influential medieval samurai warlord Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it was once a villa in the suburbs of Kyoto then was made into a Zen Buddhist temple. The pavilion is covered with gold leaves and stands in the beautiful Japanese landscape garden. It's a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
