Mt. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan and a symbol of the country. Its perfect conical shape is easily recognizable and well known across the world.
It is not just a beautiful and symbolic mountain, but also it's been worshiped by the Japanese people since ancient times as a sacred mountain, where gods reside.
Because of this cultural importance, UNESCO designated Mt. Fuji, lakes, shrines, and other culturally and historically essential spots as World Heritage sites in 2013.

At the foot of Mt. Fuji, in Fuji-Yoshida city, there is an old inn museum where the Mt. Fuji pilgrimage stayed in the eighteenth century. You can take a glimpse of how they traveled and climbed the mountain on foot back in the past.
